Hello! I'm Lindsay...
I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#86236), and my greatest passion, honor, and privilege is to help my clients find wholeness and restoration within themselves and their relationships through the pursuit of vulnerability, connection, belonging and authenticity.
It is not easy to go to therapy for the first time or to pick it up after a while away. If you are seeking a therapist, you may be experiencing loneliness, isolation, pain, fear, anxiety, depression, grief, or lack of connection. I am so proud of you for taking the brave step of seeking help and choosing to explore with whom you will share your journey.
I would love to share the journey with you. It is my privilege to be invited into my clients' stories and to collaborate with them in exploring their pain, confusion, past experiences, emotions, and hindrances in intimacy. I view the therapy room as a place for peace and my work as a therapist as liberation. Together we ensure the therapy room is a place for you to become free to know yourself and others the way you were intended to. I seek to provide a space of safety, predictability, warmth, support, compassion, and empathy where you have the freedom to explore and grow.
I specialize in counseling for couples, including marital and premarital, using a model called Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). EFT is a short term (8-20 session), structured approach to couples therapy created by Dr. Sue Johnson. EFT is based on clear, explicit conceptualization of marital distress and adult love. It is supported by empirical research on the nature of marital distress and adult attachment. The goal of EFT is to track the cycle of emotional disconnection between couples and then create new cycles of bonding interactions that occur and replace the negative cycles that leave couples feeling isolated and unseen. The relationship becomes a safe haven and a healing environment for both partners. I love helping couples understand their "dance" of emotional disconnection so they can work towards restoring bonding, attachment, and intimacy with each other.
I also specialize in working with individuals with trauma using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I use EMDR to help clients heal from trauma and other disturbing life events more quickly. EMDR is used to resolve trauma, post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, fear, phobias, and depression. The Adaptive Information Processing model posits that EMDR facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience to bring these to an adaptive resolution. After successful treatment with EMDR, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced. If you are suffering from PTSD or trauma related symptoms, it would be my honor to help in alleviating your distress and facilitate healing in your life.
I believe we are all wired to feel known, to be loved, and to experience belonging. You are brave. You are courageous. To seek help is brave and courageous. We are wired to feel known, loved, and that we belong. I believe to love at all is to be vulnerable. You may not be feeling very brave or very known right now, but it is my desire to walk alongside you. You don’t have to explore the darkness alone. I believe "shame cannot survive being spoken, it cannot survive empathy”.
